Day 1 Camping: Cusco – Calca – Qeshwarani – Cuncani (L,D)
Departure from Cusco at 05:00am. We journey from Cusco to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, through Pisac to Calca for about 2hrs. From here you’ll be treated to beautiful views of the famous Sacred Valley of the Incas and the ornamental terraces of Pisac. The Sacred Valley was the heart of the Inca civilization from the 14th to 15th centuries, and many people still farm in this lush, expansive valley.
Our hike begins in the village Qeshwarani, from which we begin our leisurely pace through the valley of Cuncani, before the high pass of Cuncani we will eat our picnic lunch. After lunch we continue on our path to the highland village of Cuncani (3700mts), our destination for tonight. Your guide points out an abundance of local flora and Andean medicinal plants along the trail such as Molle, Retama, Muña, Marku, and Kuñuco etc. From our campsite, we will have stunning views of snow-capped Colque Cruz. Also nearby is the village of Cucani, where we’ll visit some friendly families and see how they live in harmony with mother nature.
