Trip Overview

You’ll be collected from you hotel and depart Miraflores along the coast heading south. We navigate the rush hour traffic and get glimpses at the urban sprawl and numerous ‘pueblos jovenes’ or shanty towns, in route to the Villa Wetlands Reserve Zone, the only area still officially protected in Lima. Due to its strategic location on the Pacific west coast and below sea level elevation, the Villa Wetlands Reserve is an important stop for migratory birds. See the sprawling Totora reed beds that act as home to more than 150 migratory bird species, including 30 species from as far away as the Arctic Circle, the Caribbean and Patagonia.

From Villa we travel another 20 minutes to Archeological site of Pachacamac. It is considered, along with Cusco, as having been a main religious center in Pre-Hispanic Peru. Made entirely of mud adobe bricks, the complex is full of monuments, temples and small palaces. We’ll visit the most important areas including the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Virgins of the Sun, followed by a stop at the on-site museum before heading back to Lima. Then, it is time to say ‘adios’ to your guide and driver upon return to your hotel.
